Directions: I-15 Exit #36; S on US 91 through Downey; in Swan Lake, zero odometer; continue S on US 91; in 3 mi, R (S) on Coulam Rd (4000 W); mi 6.5 R (W) on 7200 N; mi 7 curve L (S) on 4200 W; L (E) at mi 8.8; follow “Sportsman’s Access” signs to W side of Twin Lakes Reservoir; return to 4200 W; L (S) for 0.2 mi; R (W) on 5600 N; go 1.8 mi; R on West Side Hwy; go 4.2 mi to Oxford; R (E) on N St for 0.2 mi; L (N) on Harkness St; go 0.5 mi; R (E) and follow rd 2.8 mi back to Coulam Rd. Description: Highlights: Snowy and Cattle Egrets and White-faced Ibis. Large colony of nesting White-faced Ibis and Franklin’s Gull can be found here. Several heron, egret, and tern species also nest within this colony. Northern Harrier and Long-billed Curlew also nest at this site. Large numbers of waterfowl and shorebirds including breeding American Avocet and Black-necked Stilt. In the fall, this can be an excellent staging area for waterfowl and Sandhill Crane.
